I found this in our shower, I live in california, when i caught it, i assumed it was a widow and stuck it in a nice tall container with some loose stones as substrate, but it appears that it is a terrestrial spider, it has webbed up the bottom of the container with a bunch of "trip wires" can anyone tell me some more information on this spider?

description:
male probably, it has "boxing gloves" (swollen palps) on the front
I saw it before and it was brown, but i caught it right after a molt and now it is clear and a deep, purplish red
about 1/4 of an inch long, 1/8 of an inch tall

EDIT: I think it might be some sort of Tegenaria, but it just doesn't seem hairy enough

What you have found is a male Steatoda grossa (Theridiidae).
