Now I know that in theory you can handle any creature as long as it sees you as surface rather than living being [1], but.... :?

I think it's a Phoneutria Fera btw.

[1] Well, ok..not recommended with elephants...YMMV.

I know that if you are expierienced you might be able to pull off holding a centipede, but still the fact that at any given moment it might shoot up your arm and bite you on the neck or in the face is pretty discomforting. I wouldnt even want to put my hands in a centipede's cage without gloves.

IrishLad...i saw that same picture on another site...think it was titled "Scolopendra" (there's a couple with that name iirc) and the author had a story about that picture. Apparently that particular pede had been defanged...so not much of a threat at that moment

No, I dont live in Ireland, but one set of grandparents is from Ireland.

Oh I see, let's just hope that it didn't moult without the owners knoweledge, I heard somewhere that the fangs grow back after just one moult.
