Any suggestions on how to go about creating a self sustaining hypoaspis culture? I have these extra mites and seems a shame to just jet them canni themselves.

You'd have to keep feeding them mites or fungus gnat eggs. If you can figure out a way to do that, you're set. Obviously, sombody does it. Probably more trouble than it's worth.

hmmmm

Well, I have had great success accidentally spawning thousands and yes I mean thousands of mites in compost containers with just some soil and a pear core for example. Yes, perhaps I could just get a 40gallon container of something vaselienve up the sides put in a whole crapload of vermiculite/cypress mulch and get the feeders going, then add a dozen or so hypoaspis and leave em all be for a month or two. I'm positive it'll work once the predator prey population stabilizes.

and if you put any dead crickets and roaches in there you'll be boosting the population of prey mites i guess too
