So, how long have your T's been fasting?
Female G. rosea - 1+ months

None of mine are fasting at the moment, but my large female G. rosea fasted for four months one time, then molted.

I don't have any that are fasting at the moment, but the record for my T's comes from a (surprise surprise huh?) female G. rosea. She fasted for 9 months, molted, then fasted an additional three months.

P. lugardi (two of them, one since november, the other since october).
P. irminia at least since december (the beginning of the month). Just moulted 2 days ago though, so that shoudl fix itself soon
G. rosea (longer than i can remember, probably since september so 5 months).
E. campestratus (female i think) approx 5 weeks.
I don't recall any of my other T's being in a fast lately.

Chaco Golden Knee. At least 5 weeks, possibly 6 or more...and counting, since it molted last week, so I'm not even offering for at least another week
It was in premolt for a month, possibly a month and a week....
Nobody else really counts, although I was concerned about my GBB sling going for over 2 weeks right after a molt, as it was looking quite thin...and then it attacked a good size cricket..no worries now

Is there anyway to tell when your T will stop fasting? I'm kinda worried cause my Rosie stopped eating after I got her. Is she stressed or something?

Have an A.moderatum female who has not eaten since Oct 2003!!!! Have been offering food every 2 weeks or so & still no go.........she does drink water ......just does not eat. She has not molted either.
Rosies are known for fasting & having strange eating schedules. So far my two are eating but then I do not stuff them nor do I give them food on a regular basis, by doing that I'm hoping to keep them from fasting. I also do not feed on a set schedule......don't know if this is the reason for them not fasting or not....but....oh well.....so far so good.
The moderatum was absolutely stuffed like a tick when she stopped eating. My other Ts do not have any eating problems. :p

I also have an A.Moderatum (approx. 2"), that hasn't eaten in almost a year, and hasn't molted since she's been in my care...almost two years. She does spend lots of time hanging around her water dish, but shows no inclanation to do anything but move away from prey items.
At first I was very, very concerned...but after about 6 months I said screw it. I can't make her eat, I can only offer her food. I had heard of T's living for very, very long periods in captivity with no prey items offered, as long as they were given a constant supply of fresh water, and was uncertain if this was fact or fiction...I now am certain it is true, at least for A.Moderatums, from my own experience, and some first hand accounts from other members. You've just added yet another account to that list.
This species has got to be among the top 5 slowest growers in the T world.

My P.cambridgei hasn't eaten in about three months, she used to have the most veracious appetite of all my Ts but then in Nov just stopped eating. The cricks actually hide underneath her when I go to take them out and she just lift a leg and lets them under!!!

My 4.5" Brachypelma klaasi female has not eaten anything in 14 months. I offer food everytime I feed everyone else. The food items are left untouched even when I leave them overnight. She has a full waterdish and hasn't lost any weight as far as I can tell. She looks as fat as she did last year. The last time she molted was on 6/27/03. She's is being kept in the same manner that she was when she was eating, so I'm not worried.

I have a Chaco Golden Knee (Grammastola aureostriata) sling, About 1 1/4 inch. It molted for the first time in my possesion the other day. No fasting at all. No signs of molting. I did my daily check and saw that it mad molted. No fasting after either. How common is that?
My G. Rosea fasted 2 weeks bofore molt and 3 days after. :)

my four 1-1.25" a. moderatum didn't eat for over a year. finally one molted (one of the smaller ones, ironically), and it's eaten once or twice now. two of the remaining 3 have HUGE butts, but have never eaten and won't molt. the third looks normal, but should also molt within the next few months (as the one that DID molt was its same legspan and same abdomen size).
crazy aphonopelma.
Our two longest fasts were our male G. rosea just before his ultimate moult. He fasted for 9 months, and our juvie G. pulchra fasted almost 5 months before its last moult.

My G.rosea hasn't eaten since March of last year. Yet she has just molted a few days ago for the first time in four years, so I'm really hoping that she'll get outta her funk. ~ Rex
