One of my favorite species of spider, Hickmania troglodytes (Family: Hickmaniidae). They somewhat resemble giant Latrodectus. Dwelling in caves, large specimens can have a 4-5" legspan. Incredible species...

How cool would it be to have one of those in the collection?! Probably never be available though, huh? Any reports on the venom? (It does strongly resemble a Latrodectus after all) Good thing that Latrodectus doesn't get that big.

Hey Gary, yeah, it is highly unlikely that Hickmania would ever be imported. The venom is not dangerous but can cause some pain.

Hey, Alex-
I could be mistaken, but isn't that the same spider Jeff Corwin freehandled during his New Zealand episode?
Awesome species of spider, at any rate! I'm with Gary, there, hoping beyond hope... that it will be imported eventually, but I won't hold breath.;)
