Hi I’ve finally gotten my first hatchling from my 5 white spot assassins’.

Got a load of eggs that should be hatching very soon:)

But first I need to feed the little guy, now I have a very active lobster roach colony so I have lobster babies to feed it but I think they may be a little big.

Now I remember some other owners of assassins giving some good advice on feeding the young but I’ve searched and I haven't found anything.

So what the best course of action?

newborn roaches/mealworms or fruitflies flies will do the trick.
They can easily take down prey that is larger than them so no worries.

well i've heard that but the little guy still hasn't attacked one of these baby roaches so i thought it best i check.

I take it then that they don't need to eat for a while after hatching?

I usually wait a day or two after hatching to feed any predacious insect. Small crickets (around 1/4") have always worked great as prey items for all of my reduviid nymphs.

they need some time to harden up a little bit and then they'll be able to feed.

When you incubate the eggs what setup do you use?

I've been using a damp paper towel in a cricket tub on a heat mat.
Hot and humid.

Yeah I waited for him to harden before I moved him from the incubator into the nursery.

I leave them with the adults but so far no success (see the other thread)...
However the assasins I keep I raised them from nymphs.

Well I remove the eggs from the adult’s tank and place them in a small tub with some damp paper towel at the bottom and place it on a heat mat.
You'll need to replace water that evaporates and make sure that the paper towel stays damp as it can dry out on the bottom but still looks wet around the edge.
