Well this is a new one for me.

My G. Rosea burrowed yesterday.

I thought that they were terrestrials not burowers.

any comment????? :?

yes I did

she's been with me for 6 months.

and she's got her hide all right. and I don't think she is premolt.

since she took two Crickets the day before.

and she dug the burrow yesterday. and Iwas so amazed at it.

How large is it?

My sling burrows like crazy. The only time I see it is when it's removing cricket remains from its burrow. The only time my adult burrowed was just before she molted, even then it wasn't really burrowing, more like moving all substrate out of her hide.

well she is all the way in

and she covered her burrow entrance with a thin layer of silk.

I don't know maybe it is because she's got the space to do so.
you se her substrate is 5 inches deep.

maybe that is why???????

Little too big to be a sling. Sounds to me like you've got a typical rosie, they never follow the "rules" and do as you expect. :D

Got this from http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=5292

BURROWING (***NEW DATA***):
For a long time enthusiasts were puzzled by roses' apparently
unwillingness to burrow in a cage. It was thought that they might be
vagabonds in nature, seldom if ever actually living in a formal burrow.
However, recently Dr. G. B. Edwards (Curator: Arachnida & Myriapoda
Florida State Collection of Arthropods, FDACS, Division of Plant Industry)
on a trip to Santiago Chile, examined Chilean rose tarantulas in large
numbers living in burrows some 45 centimetres (18 inches) deep. Now we
know: Their apparent reluctance to dig a burrow in captivity is apparently
an artifact of being captive, not a "natural" life style.

The general experience in the hobby is that they neither require a burrow
nor use one. When given the chance we've seen them use a coconut shell as
a place to hide, but all of ours have firmly rejected burrows when they
have been offered. This is supported by the experience of many other
keepers. Installing a coconut shell or a plastic aquarium plant that
drapes over to produce a darkened cave-like space might be appreciated,
however. It may decide that's a good place to hide. Otherwise, don't worry
about it.

may be that's it

Terrestrial simply means living on land (not aquatic, airborne, arboreal). Burrowing is just a specific type / subcategory of terrestrial. All terrestrials can burrow if given ample substrate and the "push" in the burrowing direction. Your G. rosea sounds completely "normal".

Mine has been pushing all the substrate out of its hide, like clear down to the bottom of the tank where the heater is. Yes I know most T.s don't need a heater but my room temp is pretty cold so I use one. With it being on the bottom of the tank I've thought about adding more substrate under the hide. There is about 6" of substrate total maybe 4" of that is below the enterance to its hide. It's not been trying to seal the entrance but I'm not sure it could I just use a flat rock leaned up against the side of the tank
