well, not everyone on board is from North America
it's either Dysdercus cingulatus or Dysdercus poecilus, depends on the size
well, my assumption is based on Taiwanese sps i've known, but i guess H.k sps won't be that different

I was rushed, but the box elders from California, although similar shape, are different colors.

I actually notice where people profile where they are from, but a lot of people seem to fail to notice that bit of info. I noticed the original poster was from a place far, far richer in bugs than California! Good thing for us! More bugs!

Thanks, Randolph! It's always good to point out that this forum can and does go worldwide!

Now, if only some people wouldn't use the profile location to say they are on the left of your screen or whatever...

nah, None of the above is richer but just different ecological systems with different species of animals, you cannot compare that
as well as plant trees for the bugs, it's not a bad idea
think of ppl farmed those pests and sell the adults butterfly or pupa
one of my friends crap for T.simson beetles which are hard to raise in captivity, cuz they heavily rely on Sh*t

Actually, California, especially where I am from, in redwood country, the bug diversity is lower than many other places, largely due to the influence of the redwoods.

Now, um, why can't your friend just collect dog poo? I've never had a T simson beetle. Are they that choosy? Does he have to eat special meals for them, too? What devotion! Wow!

It's kinda rhinosourous beetle from indonesian mountain, the female only lay eggs in poos, and it's hard to collect bull poo in city, so he finally decided to make some himself
8 months later, no eggs layed with lotta his own poo....
