very cool!

we have less dramatically colored native assassin bugs that i am always searching for, in California

nothing like those african boys, though!

Awsome- I just got some eggs in the mail this morning...already have the "Mombo" Orange spots...but these will be my first White Spots!

Are those things poisonous? What are their defense mechanisms??

they poke a hole in you with their proboscis (nose cone thing) and inject a saliva/venom/enzyme/not sure what else into, then suck it back out

i've heard some species are 5 out of 5 stars for pain... think Scolopendra subspinipes territory :)

Bite of Notonecta glauca, very common european Heteroptera specie, can be very painful. I had two "accidents" and they were more serious than bite of a hornet.

And of course, nice pics. I love everything with 6 and 8 legs :)
