Here are a few shots of The Great Pumpkin exploring his new digs. A little skinny cause he had webbed up the lid of his original habitat (a cookie jar type cannister) so much that I was having trouble maintaining it. He (?) should plump up more now that I can keep closer tabs on him. About 4.5" long now. Fast grower - he was a 1" sling about 15 months ago.

Any idea what sex from these pics?

I don't know if I'd be so confident it won't web up it's new housing just as badly. OBT's love to sling web everywhere!

Are those modified palps (bulbs)?

I also thought I saw hooks - is it a mature male?

Yeah, but I should still be able to get in & out of the "hatch" in the top of the Kritter Keeper to feed, etc., whereas before when I opened the cannister top it pulled all his webbing apart. And with a taller enclosure I'm hoping he'll set up shop around the flower pot and not web all the way to the top. Fingers crossed...
