I've done a quick search so this is just to confirm what I've read

The females are the ones with the wider bums, like the one on the top right and the males the pointier bums, like the one on the top left? :? :?

I've got better idea. I've made that picture for polish forum (for the same problem as yours).
Just check your roaches abdomens (ventral side).

On the left, it is a male. On the right, female.
