I've been playing around with holding my camera up to the eyepiece of the stereo microscope in my lab. It's not the best method, i'm going to try and persuade my boss to buy a c-mount so i can attatch the camera properly. Anyway, these are some photos of the soil micro-arthropods i work with, collembolans and some velvet mites.

They are completely harmless. The ones in my picture are Folsomia candida, a common lab organism. The ones you get are probably a smaller species, but equally harmless, and possibly benificial as they eat leftover organic waste.
