Hey everyone, I just got back from three days of being out on business and I came home to find my LP tank that I had made had broke on one corner and the 4" L. parahybana is gone!!!!!!!!! WHere do I start looking??? WIll he go up or down??? I keep him in the basement in a warm room. WIll he try to get out into a colder room or stay in the warm room? Damn!! I'm arachnophobic to begin with, so this is going to be an adrenaline pumping night. My heart is racing already!!!!! Any suggestions on how to find him would be appreciated!

I would look low since its a terrestrial spieces. I would look in small cracks or stuff you think he can't get into most likely he probably can. I would also look for webbing as well.

As a suggestion, behind heavy objects (furniture, appliances, etc.) at ground level. Best of luck locating it! :D

I'm glad you found your T! I havn't had any escapees yet-but i know I would be freaking out too-just because I would be worried about tis survival outside its cage, and I wouldn't want to accidently sit on it or have it bite me while it was roaming my house.

Glad you found him koldaar! Did you find out how the tank was broken? We have a cat and we really watch it when it gets around the T enclosures. I'm located in Albert Lea. There is enough of us in this area that it might be good if we tried to get together sometime. Again, glad you found the LP.

Yeah, I found how the tank broke. I had tried to experiment by making a tank with plexiglass and hot glue. The tank seemed fairly strong when I tested it, but apparently not strong enough. The T burrowed along one corner of the enclosure and the outside wall popped free from the glue. I came home and saw dirt all over the floor and looked up and there was the tank with no T. I was soooo nervous! The enclosure was on a shelf about 4 feet off the ground. THe T had to have taken the fall. I looked the T over after I caught him and he looks fine, no bleeding or missing/bent limbs. All is good now! No more plexi glass and hot glue! I'll just stick with regular store bought enclosures. :)

It's the hot glue that let you down, not the plexi. Hot glue goes brittle when dried. I've got lots of plexiglass tanks that are absolutely fine even against the most determined escapers (that'll be the seemanni then) Aquarium sealant is the one to use instead.
