More Jumper Cuteness

Found this little bundle of joy walking on the outside of our house here in Maine. I had to snag it and take some shots. I just wish I could have had a super great macro lens to capture the awesomeness. I think its a phiddipus audax but Im not sure as this one has pretty pronounced front legs. The best part was when I let it go and it turned to my face and twisted its head like a dog. That was the sweetest thing. {D

amazing spiders, I really do wish they got larger than 2" in most cases. You can definitely see the wheels turning when they stare at you like that.

Five inches would be nice. Really great vision. They have muscles around their eyes. They can actually move their retina around like we move our eyeballs. Saw that on a show about spiders. Someone caught it on camera. The spider was sitting still but it's eye shine from the light would change.

Wow, a 5 inch jumping spider? That would be able to jump like sooooooooo far, or maybe it wouldn't jump as often? I imagine due to the extra weight if it fell it would be somewhat like a tarantula plummeting over the edge of a table: not a pretty picture :(
