Honestly I think that was a very selfish thing to do. Mantids are rare as it is in North America.

Those pics of mine were taken with a cell phone camera..only camera i could get close enough without being attacked !!!!

Mantids are NOT at all in short supply where i live ...ONE could be spared Not really that big of a deal.....im not at all selfish !!!!...after all there are worst things that it could be fed to it......

Oh god...here we go again.

Mantids aren't rare. That looks like a chinese mantid, an introduced species. They are really common across town from where I live. I just found out that there's an organic farm somewhere near my local movie theater that likes to use them as organic pest control.

Now, they might be really rare where you live but that doesn't mean they aren't common where he does.
