In January of 2005 I bred a female G. rosea with a recently matured male. on Sept 20 she laid an eggsac. after leaving the eggsac with the mother for exactly 54 days it hatched. as of right now i have separated 45 of the slings with at least another 100 to go. almost all hatched from the sac freshly molted. the first feeding will occur tonight. temp in the room varied from 75-80 degrees over the course of the incubation period. the cage was completely dry except for one corner which i would pour a moderate amount of water in every 10-14 days. the mother was not fed until the sac hatched. this particular female has been in my care since june of 2003. the male since august 2004.

awesome congratulations.
was your male ready to mate as soon as he had hooks? mine has the hooks on his palps and the barbs on his legs, but he doesn't drum or make sperm webs, and breeding attempts have been unsuccessful. do you think he isn't quite mature? I just thought I'd ask since you seem to be doing well. :-)

Congratulations on your sucessful mating! I hope to have a sucessful mate with my A. avicularias. Did you just leave the eggsac with the female until the nymphs/slings hatched? Or did you put them in an incubator? Again, awesome to hear your good news.

i left the sac with the mother for 54 days. i wanted to watch her brooding behavior. i would have left the slings in with her for longer, but her enclosure wasn't that big and she seemed to be staying on the opposite side of the cage. she did seem to be checking where her eggsac had gone after i removed it from her tank. i actually mated my avics last year but the female ate the eggsac after just 10 days. she then molted 4 months later and i attempted a second mating. after another eggsac was made she ate it after 4 days. i assumed that either the eggs were bad or she just isnt ready to be a mom. the next attempt will be with a different male seeing as she ate the first one.
my male molted about 30 days before the first mating attempt. i made sure that he was fed and recovered from his molt and watched him make a sperm web. a few days after the sperm web was done he started pacing his enclosure. that is when the first attempt was made. i watched at least 2 or 3 good insertions before he was done. about 2 weeks later after another sperm web they mated again. more insertions (couldn't tell how many) and then he ran away. he then went on to mate with a couple of other females about a month later. no eggsacs from them yet.
