I really can't see an epigastric furrow, but my GUESS would lean toward male.

I'm not really sure but isnt P. irminia sexually dimorphic? The female gets jet black with the characteristic orange/yellow shocks on the tarsus, meta-tarsus, while the male is lighter colored maybe even a gray-brown. You may be able to tell the gender just by looking at its coloring. I could be wrong about this.

how big is this individual?
i see fingers in the pic, but they are all screwy, so i can't tell the size of the spider
to v-sex off of epiandrous fusilae, the spider needs to be closer to maturity than to sex off a molt, i believe
don't both sexes have epigastric furrows?
females have a more pronounced lip on theirs, purportedly

do you have a higher resolution shot of the area between the pair of book lungs closer to the sternum?

At 4" you should be able to see if it's male or female by the coloration. You shouldn't need a ventral shot to be able to sex this T. As far as the picture, it's not decisive enough either way for me.

I could be wrong, but I thought this was only at the maturing molt. Up until then - don't they look the same?

I had a male who looked just a like a female until he molted mature at 3.5", he was 4" after the molt though. I guess it all depends on the individual male to determine what size he'll molt mature at, some are small, some arent. And I believe they look identical to females until they molt mature.

Hmm, my female (?) has been solid black for a couple of molts now. I think she is still juvenile. Unless the male goes gray of mature age :) --Not sure.

Ah ok, so maybe mine could be a male.

The male goes gray ONLY at his maturing molt. Until then, he is exactly the same color as the female. And my male didn't molt out until he was almost 5". So neither size nor color are a good indication of sex.
I'd like to see a closer picture with higher resolution, but at this point from that second picture, I think it's a male.
