Hiya all, My new Pulchra arrived today:clap: yippee:clap:
Isn't she just the most gorgeous thing, i love her to bits, her name is SOCRATES after Socrates on arachnoboards.
When she arived she was dark brown to black with mid brown legs:confused: But this morning she is almost jet black, is this due to travelling overnight in cold conditions:confused:
She is doin just fine now & she has a veracious appitite but is very very friendly.

The other great news is i got up this morning & checked on Flicker my little Vagans to see hows he's doin' as he went on a sulk mission 2 weeks ago & locked himself in:( This morning he had popped his skin:clap: I am exstatic as its my first shedding, i havn't taken it out yet as he is sat on top of it.
He is a lovelly flame red now on his back-what a little cuty:}

Hope you all like my new addition to my T family, Socrates now makes 6:D

Hi, I CANT get my pictures up!!!!!!
Every time i go to submit my pics it keeps coming back with ''unable to move/copy file.
I havn't other pics on so i dont know why it wont let me do it:?

ANy SUGGESTIONS:confused:

they're updating AB right now... you'll probably be able to do what you want when they are done :)

photobucket is an excellent suggestion, you can store many more pics on there than here, and you can refer to your photobucket pics from anywhere on the internet :)

Congrats on the pulchra! I see your next one is to be a Pokie. I'm sure you'll really enjoy it. They are a lot different from a G. pulchra but I wouldn't be without one.

Here's the pics for the pulchra? (FINALLY GOT THEM UP)
When she came yesterday, she had light brown legs, wiered for a pulchra, but today she is almost black.
Is this because she was travelling in very cold temperatures? She seems quite normal now & she has a veracious appitite but is very very friendly.........& GORGEOUS

Ahem.... Fox? I might be totally wrong here, but are you SURE this is a G. pulchra? I've seen oodles and oodles of pictures, but I've never seen one where the legs are light like yours. Even the hair on the legs look light colored.

She's a great looking T, quite a good size already, and I hope I'm wrong about the "identity" thing. :)

I know, i had a really funny feeling when i opened the box & saw her, me & mick thought she looked a bit odd.
What the heck is it? She has gone a lot darker now, i put down the lightness to her travelling over night in the cold. I thought her body temp was something to do with the lightness.
When i saw the pic on virginia cheesemans web page i thought Pulchras where JET black.
Socrates isnt jet black:confused: :(
Cant believe i held her as well- good job she isn't nasty, unless she was just tired:(
She has a ferocious appitite, & boy can she move.

Can i have some more opinions from you guys please, i am sticking with Wendy on this one.:(

I think its a pulchra, it depends on the direction of the light, their black legs may look grey. Just before molting they are much more grey than black.

These are 3 different mature females:

Man thats weird, like what from brazil said is totally valid, however, yours is a little too much.

Fox, after seeing Gui's (from Brazil) pics of his pulchras, I feel a whole lot better. I never knew they could go through extreme color changes like that. Yours just might be needing a molt soon(ish), and her new clothes will probably clear things up. :)

Thanks for posting the pictures of your beauties, Gui. I learned something new. :)

I just took 'socrates' down to the local spider shop as they had a spider guy in for the day. He said he is 99% certain its a pulchra, but could not determine weather male or female.
I've done some more research on the net & have found a few like mine but not as light.
Saying that though, i am far from expert at taking pics & looking at him now, as we speak, he is very similar in colour to brazils pulchras.
The colour on the photoes dont look anything like him as i am seeing him now.
I will try & take some more in a few minutes, i gotta let him calm down as he has just gone back inti his tank.
Maybe i just got a bit of a freak spider eh? But anyways, it is very cute...& laid back......& got a HUGE appitite.:D

When it moults you should be able to sex it more accurately than a ventral moult anyways :) Good luck w/it :)

G pulchras are IMO one of the most beautiful T's out there! Congrats, Fox. Mine was only 1.5 inches when I got her, and also more brown than black. She has since darkened some what , but is still a deep brown color. The contrast in color between "Soctrates" legs and body, is what is puzzling. Don't be afraid to ask the dealer again and send the picture.

I've put another better pic on now, its on the question section. yes you are right they ARE very beautiful, I thought i'd paid a lot for her she was £28, £35 with p&p, thats about $80, but i guess i got a good deal, I love her anyway.

If it is a guarenteed female you got for £35 that's really not bad at all!;) I have three of these tarantulas currently and they are fantastic!
