Hi Eddy,
I don't normally reply to spider images, but this is a great pic (the colours in the image are VERY well balanced) of a beautiful spider!! One of the best pics of this species I've ever seen. Close ups with really costly macro cameras aren't everything, this picture shows that very well. Tell me, did you take the image in natural lighting, or did you use a flash?? Also, do you have a high res copy of this image I could use for my desktop?? You've got my email addy I think.
Scott, if this pic doesn't make your next arachnoposter I'm going to copy it, print it and sticky tape it to the poster ;P
Thanks,
Steve

Gee Steve, you allmost make me blush ;)
pic(s) are in the mail! i did use a flash. pic was not made in a tank, so no glas reflections. the corck was setup in front of a black cloth (to absorb the flash.) flash was not pointed directly at the spider. this spider (as well as the blue Cyriopagopus ) is allmost impossible to get accurate on a picture. some cameras pick up the blue better then others. this picture was not altered in any way (no contrast, brightness or anything.) just resized (and lost some detail with that...)

Looks like an ornata sky-diving in the night hehe
You know your P. ornata has been hanging out with your C. crawshayi too long, if...
(a) It starts hanging out in holes in the ground:

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7733/pict00245fq.jpg
(b) It starts to develop an attitude problem:

Here's my 7 months old, 3", unsexed P. regalis. The little fella recently got a habit of sneaking in the little space between the foam and the lid just like the one in this thread (http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=54036), but it stays there all day long (you can see the web in the pics). I made it come out for a healthy snack (read: 3 crickets that it devoured at once). While it was out, I had the opportunity to take some shots. Only 2 came out nice though (crappy camera) and the pictures make the spider out to be darker than it actually is.

I am posting these for my mom (cricket54). I don't have a pokie of my own yet (I want a metallica someday). So I got to experience these beauties by watching my mom's grow up. The first one is a picture of Raja. I am not as brave as my mom is with holding some of these T's so I just took a picture of her through the plastic of her tank. This one is out and about a lot, so it wasn't too hard getting a nice shot of Raja.

The next one is a picture of Neeta who is also a beautiful regalis. She bolted out of her enclosure one day and found respite on my mom's hand.

This little one was very cooperative with getting her picture taken. I was able to move her enclosure around and keep the top open while trying to get the best shot and she never tried to bolt.

Just wanted to let you know that I am not ignoring your question. I prefer to wait until all offspring have reached 2nd instar and begun to feed prior to commenting. I'm not superstitious; just cautious ;) . Plus, I don't want to scoop myself! I am collaborating on an article with Billy Korinek and Bruce Effenheim from Theraphosid Breeding Project regarding the US breeding of P. subfusca for ARACHNOCULTURE 2(1). I will just say that I had 73 1st instars in 2004 and have 70-74 1st instars presently. The recent sac had a total of 94 eggs. The sac hatched by my co-authors included over 50 healthy spiderlings.

If I told you what happened you wouldnt believe me....
But I will tell you anyways for a laugh...
I managed to get the molt undamaged.. Placed it in a plastic canister with a moist napkin. I was going to buy a microscope or a magynafying glass the next dday but that night MY DOG ATE IT!!!!
I left it out on my weight bench next to the bed and when I woke up I found pieces of plastic and parts of the molt EVERYWHERE!!!
I was not pleased...
will have to wait another couple months now again..

Thats harsh. Kind of funny how P mets are what motivates people to actually go out and buy a microscope. I did the same and ended up damaging my molt (albeit tiny) while trying to view it under the scope. ;)

hehe that is very true.. I have had hundreds of T's molt and havnt bothered getting a microscope untill I got an intact molt of my metallica.. but now my dog has bought me another couple months before I have to get one again (damn dog..) hes just lucky it was just a molt, if that was a live metallica the T would probably have bitten him, not to mention what I would have done to him for eating a P metallica..

Wow that is a great picture Michael. Its amazing how beautiful the Pokies are, even besides the often drooled over Metallica, every single other kind is absolutely breathtaking. Im thinking the goal of my collection will be 1 female of every pokie species...........
EDIT: The only pokie I do have actually is a P. Metallica, (photo below) but its only a sling. Once these grow (or any pokie) do you find they are hidden more often or tend to stay visible more?
Heres my P. Metallica (my only pokie, something I hope to remedy in the near future)
