Was out cleaning my yard and found I had a colony of 9 wolf spiders in about a 10 yd radius. The holes vary in size from a dime to a nickel. Some are no more than 6 inches from each other. Anyways here is one of the occupants.

Any chance of pulling one out long enough to take a picture from the top of one of them? I recently caught the largest spider I've ever seen (besides tarantula's in the pet store). About 1.5 inches in body length and live a foot down in perfectly straight down burrows much like the ones pictures.

I was under the impression that wolf spiders did not dig burrows. I think you have something else there....

A lot of wolf spiders dig burrows. Geolycosa spp. and Hogna spp. are the two that come to mind but I'm sure many others dig as well.

Oh, alright. I guess I might have been thinking about Rabid Wolf Spiders....but maybe I'm wrong about them too.

They've been living about 6 inches apart from each other for some time now. If you look to the left of the Maple seed, you might be able to see a wad of grass and debris about the size of a quarter that the spider on the left wove together. It served as a roof to keep the 6 or so days of rain out that we recieved last week.
