Arachnocontest Rules And Regulations

Arachnocontests are only open to residents of the continental United States. Sorry to everyone from Canada and elsewhere, but unless you can provide an address in the US where we can ship to, we cannot accept your entries. Please notify me before entering if you do not reside in the U.S.

There will be different Arachnocontest types. If you win, you will no longer be eligible for that type of Arachnocontest until we start over. This is to give everyone an equal opportunity to win.

The Arachnocontest will run for the time stated in the contest thread. Make sure your entries are in before any deadlines stated.

Any further questions, feel free to contact me.

Scott

Name That Spider Rules & Regulations

The rules are simple:
Only 1 guess per person.

Do not duplicate someone elses post. Whomever posted it first will be the only one receiving the prize. In other words, there is only ONE winner.

Editing your post is not allowed. Make sure you get it right the first time. If your post is edited, you will be disqualified from the current contest.

Use the scientific name. Common names are not allowed. If you don't know a scientific name, look it up. There are too many discrepancies with common names to allow them.

The prize for this Name This Spider contest will be a Brachypelma ruhnaui (Golden Redrump) sling.

The contest will run until 5 pm EST on Friday March 21th, 2003. The winner will be announced at the latest at 8 pm EST the same day.

All replies must be made in this thread only. Replies made elsewhere will not count.

Name That Spider is brought to you by
Joy Reed, Swift's Invertebrates (http://www.swiftinverts.com) and Arachnopets (http://www.arachnopets.com).

Good Luck,

Joy, Kelly and Scott

To Dennie and Pronty & all,

Please read the rules. If you do not reside in the US or have an address that the T can be shipped to in the US, you are NOT eligible for the contest. I'm sorry about that, but there is no way for it to be shipped out of the US and if you were to guess correctly, then someone who could have won the contest will not be able to as you are not allowed to repeat someone elses guess. If you do have a US address that if you won you would be able to have the T shipped to, then you need to notify me before posting in the thread. The two people that are not from the US that voted before you have US addresses that we would be able to ship to.

Thanks In Advance All,

Scott

Hi mrderanged!
I have read the rules and I know that you can't send T's outside US. I have buddies in US and if I won I would give the T to one of them.

dennis
03-20-2003, 11:03 AM
If I would have won it, I would be giving it to the nicest person on these boards ... Not sure on who that is actually :).

Sorry to say, but two of you have been disqualified from the running of this contest.

@ Mendi, L. cristatus was already chosen by Krystal.

Sorry :(

Well my guess is going to be going with the obvious. What better way to win a Brachypelma ruhnaui than by posting something as obvious (Or maybe not.) as the mandibles of an adult of the very same breed of Tarantula. They say the best way to hide something is to put it right out in the open. So my official answer is Brachypelma ruhnaui.

Hey All,

Unfortunately no one was able to correctly "Name The Spider" this week, said tarantula being T. purpureus. Here's a slightly easier to identify picture of said spider.
