This is what I used to think was a wolf spider until I started coming here. I know ive seen a post about this one before, but I cant remember the name. Also I wanted to show off that my photography is getting a little better.
Found this big girl in a cooler chest I use to collect duckweed for my turtle.
Im also curious what this spider prefers to eat.

Hi there,
thumbs up, really good pics!
Looks like Dolomedes tenebrosus to me.
Quite confident about the genus, but i might be wrong about the species, though.
Greetings,
Stefan

Definitely D. tenebrosus.
They like to eat just about anything that moves. Spiders, bugs, tadpoles, whatever.
She won't be doing any eating while she has that eggsack, however. She won't let go until it's ready to hatch.

I had a big female that carried the "baby ball" (as we called it) around for about three weeks before it popped. Be careful though, there were A LOT of them, and they were small enough to creep out of the window screen we covered the holes with.
Good luck with it. We had two fertile sacs, and one that was just dropped and left for dead. Great spider though.

Definitely Dolomedes tenebrosus, nice one too. =)
I've got a female I've had since May, she's caring for her second egg sac. Looks like she ate the first one while we were on vacation a couple weeks ago, no sign of it when we got home. I'm guessing they were infertile.
As for food, mine adores her lobster roaches. Anything larger than that and it would be too much, I believe.
