The researchers mated 68 virgin P. globosus females with two males.

And they can't repeat this experiment with me...why?

It's interesting in the fact that the stridulation is used as some sort of mating signal. The fact that spiders can stridulate is not news though. It's definitely not "vocalization" as the article puts it.

The article did put a pretty tawdry spin on it. It's really interesting info, but I felt like I was reading some romance novel with Fabio splayed across the cover with a scantily-clad redhead.

The article mentions that the sounds direct the male, the males that follow the directions sire more offspring, I would like to know if the males who listened got eaten less than the ones who did not...
