Where can i get Solfugids?

I would really like to know, unfortunatly my parents won't let me get venomous stuff(don't even ask, it's beyond me:) so i was wondering about solfugids since they are not venomous, where can i buy them?

Worry not, they dont carry venom:D exept for one species in india, that is.

If you're looking for non-venomous arachnids, I'd HIGHLY recommend vinegaroons or tailless whipscorpions over solifuges. MUCH, MUCH, MUCH easier to keep, hardier and longer lifespan to boot. Solifuge-keeping is largely in the experimental stage right now!

No, except for the one in india and it ain't in the trade.

Secondary infections have been known to occur from bites, though.

Theres also a specie of true spider, which has no venom glands either. i think it was uliboridae:confused:

How is she? Also, i would think in the wild that they get their moisture from their prey rather than from a dish, you know what i mean?

Oh, I hear you on that. I still offer a dish, just for grins. She usually knocks it over in the night. (she has two.)
I was really hoping for some eggs. None so far. It may be a moot point, but where would we be today if noone tried experimenting. I try to do different things every other week or so. That shouldn't discourage anyone from trying. Breeding/ovipositing in tarantula's can prove to be difficult; and they are a cake walk compared to these babies!!

The venom isn't used to dissolve food, even in spiders. They regurgitate digestive fluids to dissolve tissue. Many scorpions kill and eat prey without ever stinging it as well.

It seems that most of the time the imported species go for the $20-$40 range. However, if you can find a dealer in the southwest they may be able to collect a native one for a cheaper price. They're not as big as some of the excotics, but they might be hardier since they'd be more "fresh". They may not be on the price list (since there's little demand) but there's no harm in asking! You could also place a "want to buy" (WTB) ad in the classifieds.
