I promise I've searched until I'm bleary-eyed. I asked on another board, I made this shot my PAD on Pbase hoping someone might know. Found in a kitchen cabinet in NE Kansas. She's maybe two inches? Seems very calm. Snarfs up crickets. Has webbed a little bit in the first 24 hours. She actually webbed over the oatmeal I left for the cricket.

Thank you in advance,

I'm going to go with a Hogna sp. Lycosid. Definitely a Lycosid, it's just the genus that is the tough one... it's most likely Hogna georgicola. Hope this helps

cool wolf spider though!

Thank you!! I Googled it and she looks just like the photo of Hogna georgicola. Gee, wonder if there is a Care Sheet for these:)

I really appreciate your help. Go KU!

Nice lycosa I like the colour. I have a hogna carolinensis, just like yours, really calm but loves crickets :D except shes pretty much all pale grey. Post some more pics when you can.

Thanks everyone,

I think she/he is just pretty darn cute. I attempted a photo with a ruler and bombed badly. She just wasn't in to being measured. I was afraid I had over estimated her lenght - but I don't think so now. Close to two inches. Sof, she also loves crickets. Apparently the full sized ones. She's ignoring the tiny ones. I gave her a big one yesterday and one today and both are gone.

I have found my 1" maybe 1.25" Lycosid is very agressive about feedin and has no problem taking out a large cricket.. it looks like she is trying to ride it when she catches then cause they are so big.. not so interested in the small ones.. perhaps they are just efficient enough killers not to bother with prey that "isnt worth the effort"
