last month i got a couple of these from a friend, WC. 2 looked real fat then but never laid anything. Anyway today i was feeding them and my spiders and to my surprise i saw it has eggs! there are 2 sacs joined underneath her. i didnt open fo rlong but it appears to have 15+ eggs each side. I do have a couple pictures i will post later (upstairs). Does anyone have any advice or experience? I plan on leaving her alone and not touching as is standard. But what about food? i am very hesitant to put some in, but am a little worried about her getting hungry, shes very thin. perhaps using slower moving bugs like sow bugs or something that will not jump around and stress her out?

My other worry is she never made a burrow, the other did. this must feel a little unsecure, so i am worried. she is in an opaque jar with little light so stress from outside the jar is nil.

This is one project i am very much interested in finding out some tricks with captive breeding. my fingers are crossed!

any experience/advice would be awsome!

Amazing photos of an amazing animal!!

Good luck with those!

A female of mine was on eggs but the sack was rotten when i checked on her again after a month or so.

I'd suggest not to distrurb her at all and check on her once a month.
She looks very thin, personaly I'd give her something to eat but then again this could stress her much....tough call

Anyway good luck with her and please keep us posted.

Btw the sack looks very fresh and healthy.

i am worried about her weight as well, and cant decide whether to risk the stress with feeding. do you think less active prey such as sow bugs or smaller beetles would work better?

It is very fresh! they were "laid" on saturday. another looks to be getting ready fo rlaying so i will feed her tonight ahead of time....

i have tried to feed them prekilled prey and they accepted it without any problems, so if you are going to feed her i'd suggest try prekilled first.
Keep us posted

i pretty much feed all my animals when they are keeping eggs or babies.

my thoughts are that just because they are taking care of something doesn't mean they have forgotten how to eat.

out of 2 tarantula, 4 centipede, and 4-5 scorpion species, i have fed all during postpartum and only a single time out of ~15-20 situations did the animal eat the eggs. in that case it was a centipede which are notoriously difficult to get babies out of anyways

wiats over, they hatched today! i counted 25 and there are more underneath, but they are not safe yet i guess. honestly this type of wait (babies on moms back) kills me more than the egg case. anyway they appear healthy.

the other females eggs appear to be infertile, oh well. good for photo ops :)

incubation time only took 16 days (have to double check dates upstairs). this really surprised me! i also found a few very new babies out in the wild this weekend as well, tis the season it seems! enough talk here is a couple pics. i dont want to bug her much so i will get better ones once they are ready to be seperated.

i am pretty excited now!
