Argiope aurantia

So far I've only kept Ts and scrops, but am thinking about adding an "Argiope aurantia" (Golden Orb Weaver) to my collection. Is there any thing I need to know concerning this species or keeping true spiders in general? Thanks ~ Rex

Argiope aurantia is the yellow and black orb weaver. It has normal white/grey silk. Golden orb weavers are Nephila spp., and actually have gold silk. A few places call A. aurantia golden orb weaver, though.

What specifically do you know and want to know? Just give it enough space to build a web and stick stuff on it at feeding time.

Here's one I caught in my sister's backyard. He/She/It has molted once. In a large Prego Jar. Eats medium crix and anything small. Easy so far ( 2 months).

those are some cool-looking stabilimenta.

i hope by large you mean 1.5' plus... i know A. argentata are smaller and need pretty big webs themselves.
also you could feed her a few more crix ;)
