Every so often I've found these beautiful striped flatworms when we're in Florida, but I was never able to keep them alive for long - or so I thought.
I do remember putting one in this tank before I repurposed it for an Amblypigid, and I never saw it again until now, about a year later,...
It appears we might have a minor version similar to the Bullet Ant around here and I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light.
My other, wifey partner, got her foot chomped by an ant yesterday. The pain was instantaneous and so severe she almost screamed and it made her eyes water. Keep in...

Hello anyone know what species lives in southcentral alaska? Im thinking Camponotus herculeanus?? Ive got five queens laying eggs in test tubes. And 2 formicariums built.
The pool was out of commission most of the summer which allowed quite literally a breeding ground for all sorts of creatures in the area. I saved a few tadpoles and about 15 dragonfly nymphs from the pool as the pool guy came to clean it ttoday.
I have found plenty of info on...
I am hosting an event for a local community thing for kids about invertebrates and one of the defining aspects is that I plan to bring live Chinese praying mantids Tenodera sinensis for viewing. I had started with 4 nymphs, but now I have only two mantids left. One is a cripple (bad...
These hatched out of the ooth a few nights ago ... a month earlier than I was told they would. Very cute, but not terribly interesting just yet.
Stay tuned, the same day that they hatched my order of 3 L2 Pseudocreobotra wahlbergiis arrived! Very cool looking. :D
I've been trying to breed various feeders, and I noticed something while dealing with darkling beetle pupae today...
Were these two separated at birth? :D
Dear EPIC people:

Do scarab beetle grub eat each other??
I have enough critters here that I need to buy crickets in bulk. I can burn through 500 in a week. I've had really bad luck so far ordering from companies that show up in Google searches. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm seriously at the point where my animals are becoming undernourished...

Warm and humid day. Went for a walk to a hardware store near me. Whenever I'm out in nature (which includes Jungles such as the Concrete Jungle) I glance around at foliage, fauna, and anything else that appeases me (don't we all?).
Today, I found a beautiful Popillia japonica on the sidewalk,...
Here is the newest addition to my invert collection - a juvenile Hierodula membranacea :)
I've recently decided to start buying my crickets online because I have to drive 100 miles round trip to my nearest pet store to get them. I was wondering what is the best way to keep them all alive. I can't go with the cricket diet because its 100 miles away too lolol I was wondering if anyone...
Wierd mothlike insect I found in this evening. It was attracted to the light on in one of the rooms. I thought it was a moth at first, but I soon realize it has a rectanglish shape and fringed legs. Sorry for the bad quality photos, but it is small and likes to move right when I take the pic.
Can anyone shine some light on what this wonderful beast is?
I know very little about reptiles but I seen this beauty today and would like to do some research into them because I fell in love with this guy

When I began my thread New Idolomantis diabolica, L2 less than two months ago I expected that I'd have to wait at least six months or so to see the wild colors which these display as adults. Not quite there yet (the larger of mine is L5) but should be seeing maturity in just a couple more instars...
Posted a want ad the other day but I thought I'd probably get more traffic here actually. Does anyone know where I can buy these? Bugsofamerica is out currently, and I could wait, but it'd be nice to get some more for the Insect Zoo when I get back to college.
In posting this, the "similar...
