is there anything i can take or drink or whatever to lessen the symptoms? wow i've never known pain until now
Hey guys. Had My obt for a few weeks now, woke up to find he had completely barricaded his front door. Expecting him to have molted the next time he shows himself. He was about 3" dls. Prior.
I picked up two b. vagans at my local shop. They are less than an inch and pretty pale. Both are cute and shy and got the pair for $15.
I'm thinking about going deeper in the hobby by breeding something. So far this is what I've come up with to care for the egg sac: pull after 30 days, rotate sac at least 3 times a day, keep moist but not wet, and keep it at a higher temperature (75f-78f?). So this brings me back to my original...
well, I got 3 new LP's today. 2 are for myself, the 3rd was a breeder freebie so I gave that one to my brother in law. I was told they would be 1 inch... here's the pictures of my 2 slings, my brother in law's is about the same.
enjoy the pics.. ;)
and Number 2...
Hello all, I am new to owning a tarantula. I recently acquired a G. rosea. I have her in a critter keeper at the moment with Repti bark for substrate, half a coconut with an entrance hole for a hide, and a small water dish. When she's in her tank, she's a "pet rock" most of the time. She moves very...
Hi everybody!
Well, i have a dilemma I was dealing with for about 3 months now..i've been a proud owner of Poecilotheria species for several years now, and i haven't had any problems with them..I've never seen any make a threat pose and i owned practically every common pokie...Now,...
I have several species in my collection that are considered "pet holes." I knew this before buying and don't have a problem with it because, even then, there was activity of some sort to let me know things were ok. I often notice substrate moved around, new webbing, food gone, etc. so I feel...
Well, those of you who theorized that Ginger was a WC specimen must have been correct. Last night while I was checking on the "kids", I checked on Ginger to see if she molted yet and....NOPE. Instead, she was sitting on a big, fat egg sac.
I took some pics last night but all of them are...
People have been debating over when you're "ready" to deal with hotter species of T a lot around here lately, and to be honest I understand where both sides are coming from. It just seems like in the heat of said debates, communication became less clear and chaos ensued. Having made it a point to...
So, I have been digging around on the internet, and I am interested in feeding superworms. The reasons behind this-
1. I cannot always make it to the petstore, I am only 15, but I will be driving in July, so this may or may not be a permanent thing.
2. My crickets either die or get...
The T dealer I have ordered from exclusively at this point has a great deal on B. smithi slings going right now, so I decided to snatch up a couple while I had the chance. While I was at it I figured I'd take advantage of a 5 for $25 deal and maybe, just maybe grab the C. marshalli I've been ogling...
I got my first pamphos a bit over a month ago, a 2" ultramarinus and a slightly smaller nigricolor. The nigricolor is always out, shows no desire to burrow or use a hide at all and molted out in the open. The ultramarinus, on the other hand, burrowed down under its hide and completely back filled...
I'm new here and having a bit of trouble locating some information so I apologize if this is a stupid question.
Is there a list of genuses somewhere stating whether they are NW or OW? I'm VERY new to the world of T's and am researching every aspect I can in order to make the most educated...
So, I got this B vagans back in June and it had these weird blisters or bumps or bald patches (think, considering the elapsed time and general good health, parasites can be ruled out). Anyway, she molted last night and it kinda looks like those spots are still there but they look smaller and more...
I have one that's an inch. It hardly ever moves, and hasn't eaten since I got it which was two weeks ago. I'm just worried about it. Can anyone give me any good info on this species
After 8 weeks I opened the egg sac.
A video of opening the T. stirmi sac, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gaunyUwWKk&feature=youtu.be
A lot of bad eggs
Some eggs with legs
Because they don't catch food that's right in front of their faces. They only catch it when it touches them. And no matter how many times I tell him about their poor vision he just keeps saying it. Care to prove him wrong?
Who watches your T's when you go out of town?
I'm not out of town much (maybe once every 3 years), but is it difficult to find someone to watch them? My folks usually come over and take care of my animals on the rare occasion I have to go out of town, but they wouldn't take care of a tarantula.
Does anyone else here experience anxiety? I have GAD among other things, but I really feel that taking care of my animals clears my mind and reduces my daily stress level.
Has anyone else found their eight legged friends therapeutic?
I just rehoused my GGB, Webster, bc he's gotten too big! And I realized how much of an improvement it was for him - total upgrade!!
Thought I would start a thread for before and after pics of enclosures when ppl rehouse their little ones. Or just share a cool enclosure pic!
You know how they say pet owners begin to resemble their pets? Please post pictures here of you and your tarantulas.... And we'll see!
This is me and my recently passed common brown MM - he was on his last legs in this photo, but oh did I love that little guy!
I actually preserved and...
My girlfriend REALLY wants a G. pulchra, which I'm happy to oblige. But I want a new baboon. My experiences with my OBT have been wonderful. I love watching her make new tunnels and how quick she can zip up for prey.
My gf and I have talked, and she's finally letting me get another T (we have 9 together). My local PetCo currently has a P. Irminia, and a H. Lividum, both of which are quite stunning, and on sale very soon. The P. Irminia, however, may make it to the point of further reduction, and is $20 more...
Just wondering, I got a couple of 1" slings, and they're rapid. Just as quick, if not quicker than my Idiothele mira.
They jump like crazy too haha, quite cute really.
I want to get P.metallica and M.balfouri, just wondering if they're even faster?
