I'm getting a new T. Hmmmm this is a tough decision! I really want an a. versicolor, or a p. regalis... perhaps both haha!
I'm guilty of using a slightly misleading subject line. We all know that tarantulas don't have emotions.
Is there any awareness in them that they are in captivity? Or sense of being confined? In the case of a mature male with a desire to roam, is there frustration (not the right word, but...
I've had slings molt for me, but not an adult...yet. Both of my MFs are looking darker, fatter, and refusing food. I think it's premolt time!
Another fine beauty! Yet black with orange lightning bolt, a underrated spider that needs to be respected. This female molted two weeks ago.

So I am pretty new to this and fortunate in that all of the tarantulas I've kept so far have exhibited interesting behaviours. Not so fortunate in that I've not really found much information about what it all means. The spinning and hunting my A. avicularia did was pretty straight-forward, and I...
The male is atleast 16 months past ultimate molt. A week ago he made a sperm web. Today I paired him with a MF. Both are G porteri. He started "thumping" soon as he got close. She turned and came to him. After about 20 min he got twitchy and moved in. She responded and it looked like a good...
It's one of those things that I'm immensely curious about, but I've never been able to catch my Ts performing this action. Anyone here been lucky enough to witness their Ts flip onto their backs? How do they even go about it? I assume they flip sideways, that'd be the easiest way by far. But I...
Ok so this is my biggest Lasiodora parahybana. Sold to me as a suspect male. Along with a smaller sac mate suspect female. (So you ventral sexing pros are, welcome right now as I'm not comfortable enough to say anything for certain) He's about 5". In a reptile bin KK type enclosure. Wider than...
My Lp sling reached one inch DLS 4 weeks ago so I gave him a small 1/4" x 1/4" square peice of plastic as a water dish to see how he would take to it. I only put 4-5 drops of water into it so he shouldn't be in any danger of drowning.
He was taking to it very well for 3 weeks, I even caught him...
Hey, just a quick question. My a.versicolor sling has not eaten in 2 weeks, is it in Pre-Molt or is it just not hungry? How long can slings go without eating?
Sorry if I am being a bit frantic right now but I was packing an avic sling just under 1 inch when I accidentally let go of the small tongs I was holding that it was on. It fell less than an inch. But the tongs landed on its back leg. There was visible blood. How do I stop the bleeding? What to I...
I just finished a breeding attempt with my GBB. She was tapping and received the male with open arms. However, once the male got an insert she decided she had enough and tried to eat him. I was watching them like a hawk and got my tongs in between them. He was able to get away, but not without...
Does anybody know any facts or folk tail about a certain species? Sp far I've come up with P.cancerides killing horses and cows in Haiti, and G.rosea venom being used in heart medication. Anything else that would be cool to know?
Here is a photo of this angry dwarf spider, though not showing aggression in the photo she was before the photo shoot. She molted two weeks ago as you can see she is still fat after her molt.

Anyone have any? Just got this one, it really needs a touch up! Lol

Alrighty, I'm pretty sure some of you might be able to relate to me here. I bought an LP, whom I named River, a year ago. Back then it was about a fingernail in legspan. Now it's pretty much a long fingernail in legspan. It's only grown about half of its original size in a year, and it's an LP....
So this is not an appeal to the T's most natural environment, but more an issue for display lighting.
I want to prominently display my T's so that can experience their best color when they are out. I have enclosures basically like tarantulacages.com for my group, and I plan to light them with...
Forgive me for stupid questions, but I do have a predator cat and some large dogs in my house as I contemplate adding a T to our family.
I'm looking at a Chaco, which I know is a terrestrial new world species. I have a 10 gallon tank-no problems there, but are the substrates "heavy"? Large...
Why had I not looked into these little dolls until now? I think mines a juvie girl, but only molt will tell! Any other fans?
Want to start a thread for someone - u know who you are ;-) xo
Anyone have any blue tarantulas they would like to share photos of?
Which blue tarantula is the most gorgeous to you?
I was considerigng getting pamphobeteus antinous... JEt Black & Huge
but wanted to know what the best looking Species in the pamphobeteus genus are!!!!
post pics & your opinions!! thanks!!!
All the males are Awsome looking.. but thats obvious !!!
Is like asking crickets or roaches. Which do you think is better?(easier to breed, easier housing, small space taken up, noise). No I don't feed my tarantulas Doritos or lays. My dogs prefer cheesy nachos , but will eat either.
After visiting numerous PetSmarts and observing the awful conditions in which the Ts were in, I decided to create this petition. I have posted about it on other social media but with little progress because of the average person's disinterest in or misinformation of the creatures we know and adore....
