I was suprised to see one of my emperor's use its stinger on a cricket the other day.
They will molt in a week or two to Second Instar. Then about 14 days or so later they will venture off. Let them do so by themselves, then collect them.
I read the OP and was thinking fly larva then saw AZJohn's post. I agree with this also.
