hello everyone i am new to the 8 legged world
i got my first tarantula around christmas 07 and i was wondering if any one could help me id it
it is posted in the gallery as mystery spider

It looks like one of the black with red hair on the abdomin Brachypelma sp.

There are numerous "red rump" tarantulas that look very similar. Many of them are from genus Brachpelma. Vagans, sabulosum, and angustum are some of the more common brachypelma species. Less common is Sericopelma rubronitens. Fortunately, the care instructions for these are similar.
