We've had our three B. smithis now since late November to early December. None of them have eaten yet. They kick hairs at their food. Two of them are about 2 1/2" and one is about 3+". I don't think it's the size of the crickets because I've tried different sizes.

I just moved them into smaller enclosures to see if that will help.

Any ideas? I know this is normal for G. roseas but is it normal for B. smithis?

It is not unusual for any tarantula to go on a fast. You only need to be concerned if its abdomen appears to dramatically be shrinking in size or looks shriveled. Otherwise they should be fine. The longest fast I have personally seen has been about six months. I have even had small slings go a couple of months.

They also may not accept food until they are fuly comfortable in heir suuroundings. I have some T's that have done this before, and fasted for 3 months before finally webbing up an area and then accepting food.
