I've never even seen my H gigas outside of its hide. Don't expect swimming just because they species is reported to do so.

I have never tried to creat a water enclosure for a H.gigas, But I have had a few of them. And most of mine were in and out of the enclosures/burrows, They are a very nice species. I found that they are Really mobile at just a few inches....man now I have to go order a few of them...........Deffinatly one of my favorite baboons.ROBC KNOWS BEST

If you don't give them the option you will never know ;)

From what I've seen and read, they'll hide underwater as a defense but will also ambush fish down there. They'll also snatch fish from the surface as well. They're like a freakishly huge Dolomedes on roids!

I don't know were you find the time and the room.To make and keep such
large tanks. The H.Gigas is 1 truely aggressive T.This is the only T that ever
bit me more than once and went out of her wat to do it.I was bitten twice
on 2 separate occasions.I never gave her more than a small bake pan to let
hunt and swim in.But after watching you video.I wish I would have given her
a bigger enclosure.I use to go to the local bait store and buy her minnows or
small shiners. It was always entertaining watching her feed.Thay were never
much to look at.Just a plain dark brown T.But watching them feed made it all
woth while. This is 1 aggressive and entertaining T's.
