This morning I caught my mature male A. avicularia ready to molt:

I thought it was odd; I was under the impression that when the male molts into his mature form, that's his final molt?

Anyhow, I just came home from work and discovered him sitting right-side-up on top of the web. No molt. He looks fine.

:?

He was in the middle of doing a sperm web :) It's what mature males do :)

I haven't ever seen an arborials spermweb, but that does remind me of a spermweb.

Ahhhh. I'd never seen one.

But is he supposed to sit on it and crush it afterwards? It's completely destroyed.

Yup, they generally destroy it after them.

This is exactly what I thought when I saw the picture earlier. I thought I posted something about it but I guess not... :?
