Hi all,

Does anyone have any information on this species? I'm finding it quite difficult to retrieve anything at all online. Was going to purchase one recently, but the owner didn't know anything about the species, neither did I, so I didn't want to chance it.
Any help, hould be much appreciated.

Not sure, too small to tell, the species name he gave me was Hapalopus Butantan though. Thanks for the info though.

Ah, I decided to do a bit more digging and came up with some interesting stuff:

Here's a neat article about the first recording of a velvet worm eating a theraphosid: http://www.americanarachnology.org/JoA_free/JoA_v37_n1/arac-37-01-116.pdf
Yep, that unlucky theraphosid is H. butantan.

Also some good reading here: http://www.exoticfauna.com/tarantulabibliography/Hapalopus.html

In summary, H. butantan is definitely not the same as H. formosus, and is located in Brazil. Should be a while before they get here in the States.

Thanks for the info, interesting read on the Onychophorans. I've never heard of them previously!
