Everything I've read points to dubia; no climbing smooth surfaces, no flying, no cannibalism, decent reproduction rate if given the right environment, no stench, etc.
This is probably all biased though because I did a lot of research specifically on dubias before getting some, and not so much on any other species of roach.
i personally think it depends on what you are feeding..if you can tong feed, and have the right sized Ts..then dubia are great....but if you cant tong feed and have dwarf Ts and smaller juvies/slings, then lateralis work really great...they dont burrow, and are really soft compared to dubia..i keep dubia, lats, discoids, and hissers...i dont use the hissers or discoids as feeders yet, but might when i get them rehoused so the colonies can start booming....
