Hey all.
I was thinking if anyone had any experience with the european rhinoceros beetle/Oryctes nasicornis? The beetle is native to many countries in Europe and are threatened in East Germany, but here in Denmark where I live, the growth in population has exploded the last couple of years, so they are now a "least concern" species. I think a normal rhino beetle setup will make a good captive home for these, but if anyone has any experience with these guys or something similar to them, advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Here's a picture of one of these amazing beetles. :photogenic:

Yup. I had them few years ago.

Optimal temperature: 22-25 C
Humidity: 60-70%
Substrate: 15-20 cm, 50% decayed wood (deciduous trees, like oak, beech, birch, linden, the best is "brown rot"), 50% decayed leaves of deciduous trees. If you add horse or cow fertilizer to the bottom of the tank, they will develop much faster.

You feed adult beetles in the same way as Scarabaeidae.

Nice picture BTW ;)
