Hi guys,
I haven't been on in a while, I posted a small thread about convincing my parents to get me a Tarantula in December. Well, they finally got me one! I own a young Chilean Rose hair, its about 1" - 1.5" large, it is quite small. I have the enclosure set up perfectly, the only thing is - It wont eat.

I have had it for three weeks and I have tried feeding it meal worms, crickets and locusts and it just walks away from it when the live food goes near it. I am really puzzled because it wont eat and kind of worried. Thank you for replying in advance :)

You picked the one species that's notorious for going months without eating!

Offer food weekly, remove uneaten stuff within 24 hours.

One day it will just start eating again ;)

If it's not eating live feeders, then give it dead ones and leave it near it's hide (T's will scavenge for food), plus make sure water is handy.

If it has a nice, firm abdomen, it's ok.

My G. Roseas are picky eaters. They'll eat pre-kill mealworms, and thats about it. Tried them on live pinheads, nothing. Tried pre-killing pinheads, and adult crickets, still nothing. Just have to be patient, they'll eat.
