Not audax. P. audax is absent from desert regions, but does sometimes occur in thornscrub (which isnt true desert, as temps are more mild, and rainfall rates are higher).
It could be P. octopunctatus, but I've never seen any juveniles beyond the 2nd instar. 2nd instar P. californicus (another californian desert species) are black-ish.
Another possibility is P. tux, which is only known from arizona, if im remembering correctly, but as records for many of our inverts are VERY poor, I'm unsure.
Of course, i could be wrong, and it could end up being a different genus altogether, like Habronattus.
