Beetle larvae ID

Anybody know what type of beetle these will turn out to be?
I found them both in a rotting log in Virginia.
they are the largest beetle larvae I have seen in the wild, so I assume they are stag or hercules beetles. Can anyone confirm this?

Congratulation. You just found some hermit beetle larvae (Osmoderma sp.)

You can rear them in the log you found them in by the way

They have the classic "butt shape" of Osmoderma larvae. lol
