I got my tarantula when he was a sling but would it be the same for an emperor scorpion?

Baby scorpions require more care than adults!

if you keep a baby emperor too cold/dry, it will grow very slowly and eventually die while moulting

If you've kept lots of tarantulas and can keep the babies at 25C+ and high humidity then there will be no problems :)

After that, age depends on what you want out of them, often babies are cheaper so you can get 5-6 of a rare species, grow them up and breed them yourself
instead of buying expensive adults (which may be old and close to death), but everyone does things differently!

For the emperors, buying 5-6 babies will bring you a lot of fun, but so will an adult pair (who will give you 20+ babies after a year)
