Inbreeding

Does anyone in this hobby think that inbreeding of tarantulas is an issue like is there a lot of inbred tarantulas in circulation

Since this is your first post. There are two subjects you shouldn't touch on this forum. hybridization and inbreeding. You will burn the house down with either of these subjects and the mods will lock these threads. If you used the "Advance search" function you will find pages and pages on this very subject. you'd think so, but not really.

Tarantulas disperse as a group. This dispersal is very limited.

Eventually, those not picked off by predators will settle down as a colony. Inbreeding is extremely common in tarantulas, but doesn't cause the same horrific problems that we mammals display when there's usually at least one other unrelated population there to keep the pool from stagnating. In captivity, it's much the same- id wager captive populations are probably more genetically diverse due to us giving tarantulas a much broader and further dispersal.
