Well, it's a spider alright 
Hmm, do you have any shots of the eyes? Is it in a web? Any sort of coloration/banding that we can't see? It looks like there might be something on the abdomen, but I can't tell for sure.

I had the same thoughts, but the abdomen doesn't quite look right. It could also not have had a good meal recently, so that would explain that.

Definetly not a Steatoda. The legs give me more of a Tegenaria/Eratigena feeling. But for a real ID we need better pictures.
And for the relocation, no need. It'll move if it needs to. Quoting someone here on AB: "it knows how to be a spider better than you do".

I'm still sticking with Steatoda and a very hungry one. But....I can obviously be wrong.
