Hello, I have noticed that whenever I disturb my M. Gigantea and she assumes the defensive posture, she produces a very fast faint clicking sound. I haven't heard her making any sort of noise when she calm, only when she starting pointing her abdomen to spray. I've only heard this several times but I don't make a habit of bothering my inverts :sarcasm:

Has anyone else noticed a similar behavior?

It's called stridulation. Animals use it to ward off predators. What is it's genus? I've never heard of these guys before.

Arachnomaniac19, I am aware of what the process is. I just haven't seen any documentation of vinegaroons producing any sort of noise.

A quick, 2 minute search on the internet gives no such reports. The nearest example I have heard of is that Acanthophrynus coronatus stridulates, and since I believe they're also relatively closely related, so do some species of solifugae. It would be really cool if you found an entirely new behavior! I agree that you should record it.
