I've heard these guys are pretty active. Just how active is he? When did he stop eating? How are you caring for it?

External heat is not required for hadrurus.

If your 'white sand' is calci-sand, remove it asap. Calci sand is bad for bugs.

Just use normal play sand, quikcrete makes a cheap and safe sand, and its white-ish, so the yellow will still stand out.

Its cheap and only $5.00 per 50 lbs. You can get it from home depot.

Hadrurus are also obligate burrowers and will eventually stress to death without a burrow. A hide isnt enough.

For a large hadrurus, a substrate depth at least TWICE the length of the scorpion is required, otherwise it will collapse easily.

The deeper substrate gets, the more stable it becomes.

your scorpion is digging! that's what they do my friend, dig burrows.....but if the send is loose, they will just keep on digging, especially at night....don't worry...
