I got a baby P. Liosoma from Ken the Bug guys about one and a half weeks ago. It did well, and aggressively hunted the small crickets I fed it. But, during the evening, it would come out of its shelter and run frantically around the tank. It died just yesterday. I can't figure out why.

Here are the parameters:

Substrate: Calci sand

Temperature: 74 (Throughout the tank) - 83 (At the warmest spot)

Humidity: 56% to 58%

How did my scorpion die? Why was it running frantically around the tank at night?

I have heard that calcium sand makes bugs sick, and that you should not keep them on it.

stop using calcisand for any inverts period. It's overpriced garbage that can harm inverts
liosoma and other parabuthus, especially younger ones, required moisture at least once a week. They drink from the walls and ground of their enclosure. I've maybe lost 1-2 liosoma and each time it was due to lack of moisture. But too much and a lack of ventillation/heat to allow it to evaporate/escape it, and they develop mycosis.

good luck with your next Parabuthus sp. Once you get the hang of what they like, they're very easy to keep!
