Ok, i'm want to keep a big scolopendra.
Can somebody help me, choosing my first scolopendra?
For example giving me a care sheet.
I prefer big scolopendras.
Thank you.

androctonus...that same site I showed you for care sheets on scorpions also has caresheets on centipedes, just have to scroll down farther :) I too am dreaming about the day I can get one (against my girlfriend's wishes ;))...hope your search goes well!

this site has many good links for arachnids and some myriopods:
http://www.arachnopets.com/li.htm

also these two sites:

http://petbugs.com/caresheets/

http://centralpets.com/pages/insects/insects.shtml

oh...and I found this caresheet too earlier today:

Hey Androctonus_bic,

1st of all: nice to see new European-members.
("PS: i've got some Family in Valencia :) ")

2nd :
It's against most rules other centipede-keepers say,..but i think a Gigantea is a very good choice as your 1st Scolopendra,...

Prices in Europe are between 25E to 50E for fullgrown specimen,.... smaller juvies or plings go from 10E to 20E.
Prices in the U.S. are a bit higher :p

If you can't find a Gigantea to buy,... i would suggest you go out on a nature trip somewhere in Spain and go looking for some Scolopendra cingulata,... i've got some from the area of Barcelona,... nice pedes,... can also grow 15cm orso,... not as huge as a Gigantea,... but also good starter-centipedes.

Cheers

I dont think theres any "good starter pede" I mean they are all agressive and all has a bad bite, the bigger it is, worst is the bite but ... they are all bad soo I think you better get the centipede you really love

as long as you know not to touch them or give them any opportunity to bite i would recommend subspinipes.
it will cost about 1/8 the price of a gigantea.

Yes I know. I had a little scolopendra and is an agresive animal.
I had scorpions, and I think that you must take the same cautions to keep a scolopendra.
I prefer gigantea because is easier to find than subspinipes. And gigantea is for me, more beautifull than subspinipes.

gigantea is for sure very special... any bady has information on their toxicity ? I heard as big as the centipede is as big are the venom gland, soo the bite could be very bad .. Just watch your finger when you have to clean... but soo far soo good huh ? ;P
