In my experience with Chacos and hissers I would only give him small ones and make sure those are freshly shed. I had an adult female Chaco who I gave a freshly molted male hisser to. I didn't think it would be a problem as she readily ate half-grown ones and a freshly molted one would be so soft and tender it couldn't even kick her with leg spikes. Well, when I checked on her she was terrified - the hisser had hardened up and would chase her. She has refused to take hissers since. I just think that Chacos are so mild mannered to begin with that they are easily bullied :D
