A friend just called and said that she had heard of a guy in Sweden who kept T's and scorpions having been bitten last night and reported to have died after hours in agony today.
(She's a transplanted Brit, news junkie... not usually hysterical or inventing things)

Anyone heard anything about this?
No source for the report, just a friend... could be false.

They can sting, pinch AND bite?
there is a another thread about that on here, with links to swedish news sites

from what i read, i choose to disbelieve it

it sounded like they found a dead guy and some scorpions in cages (with one cage open) and automagically *knew* he was killed by scorpionism.

i could have mis-read and there could be further developments since i last checked though

Is that possible?

Can there be incorrect information on the Internet?

Scorpianism... I like that.
Does that make us Tarantulismists?

scorpionism is suffering from envenomation by scorpion

it is a sub-set of arachnidism, suffering from evenomatin by an arachnid

hymenopterism, vespulism i might have made up... but would be bee/wasp/ant evenomation for the hymen one (heheh, it means veil, relax =P ) and waps specifically for vespulism

"scorpionism is suffering from envenomation by scorpion

(from cacoseraph)

Thanks for the clarification.
Afraid that I was being flippant... years ago wrote an Ismist manifesto with another painter - we called it Ismism - we were making fun of the obsession to categorize and name everything in art/literature with an "ism".
Always been a pet peeve that too many words are needed to express complex ideas in English (as opposed to German or French) so I dig the undiscovered morphing of words.
Thanks again for the correction, and sorry for the "glib"!

maybe he isn't dead, and only paralized by the sting... (even though I don't think thats what scorp venom does anyway)

mainly I wanted to say to cacoseraph, I like your word: "automagically"
