I need help IDing a tarantula. It was purchased as a stripeknee, but is completely tan colored with faint knee stripes. There is a faint blue/gray tinge to the abdomen, but other than that, no other distinctive marks. Someone suggested the off chance it was an immature Ap. burica. Are there any photos online of the Ap. burica I could use to compare?

Thanks,
Gary

When A. seemani (often sold as "stripe knee") is well into its molt cycle, it tends to "brown out" and the stripes are less noticeable.

There was also a thread sometime in the past few weeks about a brown A. seemani that sounds like what you're describing.

Did you get it from a petstore?

I got her at a local pet store chain (in Springfield, MO). They are notorious for mislabeling animals. I paid $25 for her, so I don't think I got hurt too bad(even though I really didn't need another Ap. seemani).
